Dear Human,

It's me.

Your mudroom floor.

The one standing between your beautiful home and whatever is happening outside.

And lately?

I've been busy.

Very busy.

Mud.

Rain.

Dirt.

Grass.

Wet boots.

Dog paws.

Kids' shoes.

And that one pair of sneakers that somehow smells like it has its own weather system.

I handle it all.

But I have a few things I'd like to say.

First of All… Take Your Shoes Off.

I know.

You're in a hurry.

You just need to grab something.

You're "only going two steps."

But those two steps somehow turn into a full tour of the house.

Kitchen.

Living room.

Hallway.

Bedroom.

Congratulations.

You have now distributed half of Alberta across your flooring.

I'm not saying I'm dramatic.

I'm saying I know exactly where you walked.

I Am the First Line of Defense

People don't appreciate the mudroom floor enough.

Everyone loves the living room floor.

The kitchen gets all the attention.

The bedroom gets the cozy carpet.

Meanwhile, I'm here doing the dirty work.

Literally.

Every day, I catch the things you don't want throughout the rest of your house.

Mud?

Bring it.

Snow?

Fine.

We'll deal with it.

Sand?

Please stop bringing so much of it.

I'm basically the security guard of your home.

You realize the dog has absolutely no intention of waiting while you wipe its paws.

ZOOMIES.

Mudroom floor: "Oh, fantastic."

Four muddy paws later, we're doing a full cleaning operation.

I've accepted my fate.

Winter Is Coming… Don't Tell Me You Forgot.

We're still enjoying summer, but your mudroom floor knows what's coming.
